I need a pet door

There are a few steps that lay the groundwork for connecting our enclosures to a pet door. First, you need a pet door. I must make this disclosure…the pet door and its installation is extra. None of my enclosures include them in their price. I offer consultation on where the pet door could go as well as installation of the pet door as additional services. Those items are listed in the pricing section of this web site.

Most people think of a pet door as one that mounts only into a sliding glass door. While this is the most common pet door location, you also have the option of mounting your pet door in a window. These window pet doors come in increments of 2” width and height and are spring loaded to fill in the window jam. They also are made to accommodate either vertical or horizontal opening windows. Pet doors for windows are not typically sold in stores because of the number of permutations that would be required to present a decent inventory. In this case, the Internet comes to the rescue with all the aesthetic and sizing permutations possible.

Here are the steps for installing a window or sliding glass door pet door:

· Measure the opening you wish the pet door to occupy. In the case if a window, measure the available opening to get the height and width. For a sliding glass door, measure the height of the sliding glass door jam. Contact me with those measurements and I will advise on the correct size pet door to order. Receipt of the pet door is usually 2-3 weeks after ordering.

· Have the pet door installed. This can be done by either by myself or a handyman of your choosing.

· Measure with height and width of the pet door frame. This is the frame that usually houses the insulating flap that is covering the opening. This is where the pet enclosure connection will match that opening exactly and provide the path from the pet door to the enclosure.

· Measure how high the pet door opening is above the surface you are placing the enclosure on. This will provide me with the measurements to create the opening to receive the pet enclosure connection inside one of the wall panels.

Do not be discouraged by the amount of small steps to this process. I am available to FaceTime (or equivalent) to guide you through them. Remember to keep your eyes on the prize! Your cats will love the results.
